MTV challenges the anti-girl bias on American Idol - we told you weeks ago
We think Allison Iraheta is tremendous. MTV think she’s tremendous too, but they have noticed the anti-girl bias - bigtime. The MTV Newsroom even goes so far as to call it a conspiracy: “The judges have it out for this girl. The conspiracy against Allison continues.”
The Top 9 needed to find a great song to suit their voice and style, and the choice was vast - the top 100 iTunes digital downloads.
Allison Iraheta (photo 1) started with playing the guitar while singing No Doubt’s Don’t Speak and said it is one of her favouritye songs of all time. Her voice is magic, so husky and powerful. She totally made it her own and the audience went wild. So Randy criticised the clothes. Kara said the clothes were “forced”. And Simon sounded like a grumpy grandpa. At least Paula could see Allison has the talent and the appeal to go all the way.
Megan Joy (photo 2) chose Turn Your Lights Down Low which had been a hit for Bob Marley and Lauryn Hill - so some pressure. Her voice is so full of tone, however, that she sounds a combination of torch singer, jazz singer AND r&b singer. Great. So Kara was straight in with the nasty comments, and totally off beam by suggesting Megan sing like Adele. Ye gods?!?! At least the audience booed both Kara and Simon.
When hearing that Lil Rounds was taking on Celine Dion’s I Surrender there was concern. Lil just does not have the diva voice. So, as usual, she shouted on the big notes. Oh dear.
The boy singers were hyped to the max by the judges. The praise for Scott was so fake. The judges said Matt was poor - BUT should not go home. What? The anti-girl bias is out of control. Remember also Alexis Grace and bikini girl Katrina Darrell and the schoolyard attacks on them by the judges.
