Work, and workouts, begin on Twilight film sequel, New Moon

Summit Entertainment, responsible for the first Twilight film, have confirmed the production of the second book in the series, New Moon. They also announced Chris Weitz would take over as director.

Kristen Stewart plays Bella in TwilightWeitz was director and writer of The Golden Compass and co-director of American Pie. Regarding being chosen for the Twilight film, Weitz said, “I am honored to have been entrusted with shepherding New Moon from the page to the screen.”

Kristen Stewart (photo, top right) returns as Bella Swan, alongside vampire Edward Cullen, portrayed by Robert Pattinson. In an interview Stewart said the filming for New Moon would begin sometime in March 2009 and as “a lot of the movie takes place in Italy, I think we’re actually going to get to go to Italy.”

Taylor Lautner beforeMeanwhile Taylor Lautner has been at the gym to gain 29 pounds of muscle to develop his role as Jacob in New Moon. He says, “My motivation is basically my passion for the character of Jacob and the series. I want the fans to be proud of the movie, so I have to live up to Jacob.”

Taylor Lautner afterAlong with his weight training, Taylor has been trying to eat as much as possible. “I’m supposed to eat everything I can and try to keep it lean. Lean meats and veggies.”

As you can see, the before and after photos of Lautner show some considerable addition to bulk and muscle. Here’s hoping Kristen - sorry, Bella - finds him hulky enough!!
