Top Female Artists 2008
According to the Billboard charts, the top-selling female artists for 2008 included a bunch of our favourites. Not a surprise to see Rihanna at number one slot after a terrific year of solo and collaboration releases.
Alicia Keys at No 2 showed how strong her following is in the States, although less popular in Europe. And, of course, country star Taylor Swift (No 3) is huge internationally as one of the best-selling and crossover singers.
Leona Lewis is strong in No 4 slot and Jordin Sparks not far behind at No 6. Slipping in between at No 5 is Miley Cyrus, springboarding from her massive tv series into a music diva.
The six stars above were also in the overall Top 10 Artists of 2008, so that’s 6-4 to the girls.
Katy Perry was a bit further down the lists than we would like, at No 9 for females and No 19 overall, although for a first year on the big stage that is still great.
