Goth bites back

Although there is lots of media hype about the books and movies of the Twilight saga, and all justified we say, the use/fascination/plundering (choose your stance) of goth style is both welcome and unexpected.
As you would expect, Kristen Stewart (top right), the female lead of the first Twilight movie, is often dressed in appropriate and stylish black, especially at her film premieres. Over the past 6 months, however, we have seen strong goth influence on haute couture (Lanvin, middle left) and also the make up style of the fashion houses (Louis Vuitton, top left).
As you may expect, Galliano embraced more elements than many and incorporated gothic lolita influences in his shows (bottom right). And the Prada prêt-à-porter range Miu Miu (middle right) also used some stark goth echoes for its shows.
Meanwhile, on the street and in the magazine style guides you will often see goth influences (bottom left).
